Memberships
Lufthansa is a member of numerous national and international organizations involved in issues of corporate responsibility. Through its memberships Lufthansa has committed itself to responsible conduct on many levels. In the framework of various initiatives, the Aviation Group actively seeks exchanges with other business organizations and social groups to jointly shape the future of sustainable development and corporate responsibility and to advance its own course of action.
The UN Global Compact
Member since 2002
The Global Compact is a worldwide initiative launched by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. This pact, concluded between companies and the United Nations, aims at making globalization socially and environmentally compatible. It obligates the participating companies to adhere to Human Rights, social and ecological minimum standards as well as combating corruption. These are defined in ten principles. Lufthansa is the first airline worldwide to have joined this initiative.

Transparency International is a non-profit, non-partisan anti-corruption organization. By signing a declaration of adherence, corporate members commit themselves to applying ethical standards in business relationships. They also declare that they reject all forms of corruption, that they neither tolerate nor use corruption in their own spheres of influence, that they train and sensitize their employees with regard to corruption issues, and that they actively fight corruption through pressure groups.

The German Network for Business Ethics is a non-profit organization with currently about 450 members from business, politics, religion and science. The Network’s goal is to promote the exchange of thoughts and ideas concerning ethical issues related to business and to give business activities an ethical orientation. For this purpose, the DNWE supports and promotes all efforts aimed at implementing moral principles and demands on a practical level of business issues.

B.A.U.M. is Europe’s largest non-partisan environmental initiative in business. B.A.U.M. supports its members in all issues of corporate environmental protection and sustainable development. All members of B.A.U.M. adhere to a code of honour comprising ten guidelines for environmentally aware management.

The BDI initiative “Business for climate protection” wants to support politics in this demanding task.

3C initiative
Combat Climate ChangeMember since 2007
The 3C initiative consists of global acting companies, which are engaged in climate protection issues. The initiative’s target is to find ways for global solutions of a global problem. The initiative aims at forming a global opinion group consisting of companies showing leadership by demanding an integration of climate issues into the world of markets and trade facilitated by means of a global framework.
